The problem with cutting corners is that sometimes those corners come back and cut you.
It seems like our innate human nature is to take the easy road whenever possible. Often, the easy road seems to make more sense in our own brain. We tend to convince ourselves that by cutting corners during a task or project that the outcome will be the same as if we would have taken the time to do it step-by-step. However, when it really comes down to it, in many cases those easy ways end up costing us time, money, and sometimes even lives.
